PURPOSE:
The Tribal Tourism Small Business Grant assists startup or expanding Native American-owned tourism businesses in Montana. A total of $240,000 is available for fiscal year 2026. Approximately 24 awards will be granted, an average of three per tribal nation.
Applicants will select from one of five business categories:

Native American Made in Montana retail sales products

Hosted accommodations or experiences, like vacation rentals or tours

Licensed outfitting or guiding in the hunting and fishing industry

Licensed food and/or beverage or grocery businesses like food trucks

Other operational businesses associated with supplying or serving tribal tourism in Montana, such as Grown in Montana
GRANT APPLICATION PERIOD:
Jan. 7 - Jan. 25, 2026, closing at 11:59 p.m.
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS:
These funds are available to enrolled citizens aged 18 years old or older of the 12 federally recognized tribes in Montana. All applications must include documentation of tribal enrollment in the form of a Certified Indian Blood Form or tribal ID as well as requirements outlined in the grant guidelines. Applications will be considered incomplete without this information and will not be reviewed or considered for funding.

GRANT AMOUNT AND PROGRAM GUIDELINES:
Awards for individual tribal tourism businesses can be up to $10,000 with no match requirement.
